I was happy to find a set of both salt & pepper mills for $30 here. I gave a couple of sets to "foodies" as Christmas presents this year. The only reason I am grading 4-stars is for functionality. The thumb gear is a little tough for a woman to manage, otherwise I'd give them 5-stars for style.

I have not a single thing to complain about , and I am EXTREMELY picky when it comes to quality.I have sent my share of merchandise back due to inferior quality.So when I say this is a great product--that is an understatement.

(More customer reviews)We saw these when we were building our wedding registry and thought they were absolutely adorable!You squeeze the ears to grind & dispense the salt & pepper.They're a great idea, but not perfectly implemented.The shakers are rather balanced and thus don't stand up very well, so they're not great for table use (we use the magnet on the back to keep on the fridge).Also, since they dispense on the bottom of shaker, they leave some salt/pepper residue on the table.

Five stars for awesome cuteness (my husband likes them even better than I do!), minus two stars for impractical design, plus one star because really, did I mention how goshdarn cute they are??

The salt mill doesn't flake the salt so much as crush it, and the pepper grind is inconsistent. I get a better grind from the cheap plastic grinders on the peppercorn spice bottles you can get at the grocery store. Adjustment is easy using the knob on top, but the results are often poor. The only way to distinguish between the grinders is a cheesy S or P sticker on the top of the knobs (the stickers on mine arrived crooked and peeling).

Next time I'll spring for the more expensive Pugeot or other type.

Plus i was buying them as a gift for someone and the extra bottles of salt and pepper was a nice touch.I also needed a salt mill and so many sets come with the pepeer mill and the salt shaker. Then lastly, martha stewart makes "good things".You can't go wrong there.I would buy these again.In fact, I want a set rght now.

(More customer reviews)I ordered these in spite of almost being scared off by the prior review about meager output, but then thought, "it is what I am looking for and I can send them back if they don't measure up."When I got them I grabbed my store bought pre-loaded typical paper Morton Salt and Pepper shakers and noted the the hole size looked about the same.I then partially filled these new salt and pepper shakers from salt and pepper from the Morton store shakers and later from standard bulk salt & pepper containers from the store (note:I put salt in the 3 holed one- the product description messed this up - probably something the other reviewer missed) and tested them on a plate. The output of salt and pepper was perfect from both sources.Not too heavy to spoil your food in one shake but a perfect even scattering of both salt and pepper in 2 to 4 shakes.I wouldn't want them to put out more at one time.

These are perfect functioning non-imposing and stylish little salt and pepper shakers.They appear to hold about 1 ounce each and will probably last quit a while between fillings with normal use.Highly recommended if stylish, compact, and functional salt & pepper shakers is what you are looking for.

I am very satisfied with my purchase. I did purchase these from Amazon and I want to be sure and mention that the photo on Amazon makes these units look like chrome and black. They are really chrome and a very dark mahogany brown. Amazon does not specify color, so I assumed they were black by the photo. Unless you put them under a bright light, they kind of look black when sitting on the counter with my other black and chrome appliances. Anyhow, the dark brown is such a rich looking color and because of there stunning appearance, I am keeping them. Also the gift box that holds them is of super high quality and a very attractive box. Normally I would not mention the box they came in, but the gift box was extremely nice and I was impressed! PLEASE NOTE: The pepper is a pepper mill and the salt is a regular salt shaker and not a salt grinder (uses regular table salt).
